Simon Cowell “loved” Ant and Dec's joke about Cheryl Cole's Northern accent on Britain's Got Talent, according to reports.
The pair poked fun at Cowell on the TV show, asking him whether he could understand their Geordie voices.
It followed reports that Cole had been sacked from the forthcoming X Factor USA overs fears the American public could not understand her accent.
A source told The Sun: "Everyone laughed - it was proper gallows humour. When the lads bumped into Simon they thought he would tick them off.
"But he said he loved it. He's so fed up of her ignoring him he's happy to let her have the p*ss taken out of her on TV."
