Joy Division fans have been paying tribute to the late singer Ian Curtis on the 31st anniversary of his death.
The frontman, who hanged himself in his Macclesfield home on May 18 1980, has today been remembered by fans over Twitter.
''On the anniversary of the death of one the greatest songwriters to grace the planet, RIP Ian Curtis,'' tweeted gazeyres.
Whilst KarenLancashire tweeted: ''RIP Ian Curtis, 31 years gone but never forgotten. Love will tear us apart xxx''
'Closer' a biopic based around the life of Curtis and Joy Division was released in 2007.
Meanwhile, Peter Hook has defended his decision to tour his former band Joy Division’s ‘Unknown Pleasures’ album.
