Simon Cowell has revealed that he is planning to launch a global music programme which will be similar to Top Of The Pops.

The X Factor judge and music mogul first hinted at launching a weekly show in the UK last year, but has said he now wants to expand the format.

"It would need to be bigger than just one country,” he told BBC Newsbeat.

"That's what we are thinking about but I don't think this is for now, it's for a year down the line."

Top Of The Pops was the BBC’s flagship music show before being decommissioned in 2006. It has been reduced to a series of one-off seasonal episodes in recent years.
