Fans of Morrissey have been left divided by the singer's comments that the Royal Family are “benefit scroungers”.
The former Smiths star made the claim in an interview broadcast on BBC Radio 5 Live this morning (April 27) just 48 hours before the Royal Wedding.
Morrissey said he would not be watching the ceremony between Prince William and Kate Middleton, and that England no longer “needs them”, referring to the Royal Family.
His comments have split opinion among Gigwise's readers, who have been leaving comments on our Facebook, Twitter and comments section below.
On Twitter, Matthew Greenlees described Morrissey's comments as “bravado”.
“Trying to act like he's too cool for/against a rather 'establishment' event. I say enjoy it,” he added.
On Facebook, David Knight called Morrissey a “buffoon”, while Medium Kearnsy Kearns backed Morrissey's comments.
Rhiannon Ifans also agreed, and said: “So what's new about that. They've always been scroungers.”
