Foo Fighters have ended Adele’s reign on top of the UK album chart.
The US band’s seventh studio album ‘Wasting Light’ debuted at number one, bringing to an end ‘21’s’ eleven-week domination.
The album sold 114,000 copies compared to 107,000 for ‘21’, which fell to number two - one place ahead of Adele’s debut ‘19’.
Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: “Adele’s unbeaten run at number one may have come to an end but she has already made 2011 her own. She is a true phenomenon.”
Elsewhere on the album chart, the Glee cast’s ‘Glee The Music Volume 5’ was a new entry straight in at number four, while Cee Lo Green’s ‘The Lady Killer’ re-entered at number eight.
In the singles chart, LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ featuring singer Lauren Bennet was a new entry at number one.
Chris Brown’s ‘Beautiful People’ featuring Benny Benassi climbed to number eight from last week’s number 20.
