Ticket sales for the Broadway production American Idiot have plummeted following Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong’s departure from the show.
The frontman has just finished a second stint in the musical, which tells the story of the band’s career.
The New York Times reports that weekly box-office grosses fell from $1.3 million to $395,275 in the week after his departure.
In the past, such a sudden fall has often led to the closure of a production, but a spokesperson refused to comment.
Armstrong has now been replaced by by AFI frontman Davey Havok.
Meanwhile, Green Day have confirmed that their new live album and DVD 'Awesome As F*ck' will be released on March 21.
