This year’s Standon Calling festival will still take place despite the jail term handed to its founder.
Alex Trenchard was given a 30-month custodial sentence on Thursday (February 2) after pleading guilty to theft and fraud by false representation.
Festival director Graham MacVoy said Trenchard “regrets his actions” and” feels great remorse”, but “the festival is about more than just one person”.
He added: “The team have been preparing for this year’s festival and Alex’s absence for a number of months. Standon Calling 2010 was a resounding success and we are building on that.”
Early bird tickets for this year’s event, which runs from August 11-14, have already sold out.
