Robert Pattinson is keen to play Jeff Buckley in a new movie about the musician, according to reports.
The 24-year-old Twilight star and keen music fan is said to be “obsessed” with securing the role.
A source said he was “doing everything he can to land the part” as he feels it could move him away from the teen vampire saga.
The as-yet-untitled film will tell the story of Buckley’s life. The singer drowned in 1997 in Memphis aged 30.
127 Hours star James Franco has also been linked to the role, reports the Daily Express.
Pattinson has made a name for himself as vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga, which is currently nearing its conclusion.
