Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue has been forgiven for many things in her astoundingly enduring pop career; blazing a trail for soap actors – including Stefan Dennis for Christsakes - to become singers, going raunchy and dating debauched rocker Michael Hutchence, going totally crap post-Stock-Aitken and Waterman and hooking up with the Manic Street Preachers in an ill-advised attempt to go indie. Why have we forgiven her so? Is it her sunny girl-next-door disposition? Is it her milking of the ever-loyal pink pound? Or is it her willingness to get out her cracking arse at every opportunity?
Well, it's probably got something more to do with the fact that whilst the Aussie pop pixie couldn’t sing her way out of a marsupial’s womb, she keeps coming up with enough cracking tunes to maintain her musical relevance. After the golden age of the eighties – with enduring cheesey faves such as I Should Be So Lucky and Better The Devil You Know – mid-nineties niceties such as Confide In Me – to her glorious renaissance with Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around, Kylie remains one of Britain’s best loved singers.
