Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has announced that next year's festival will have the "best solar system in the country".
Eavis has installed 1,116 solar panels to the roof of Worthy farm's cow shed, which overlooks the festival grounds.
The panels will be primarily used to power Worthy Farm but can also create enough electrical power to generate 40 homes, reports The Guardian.
''We had to make a major statement because we use so much power. This has brought us one big step closer to our goal of operating the farm as ecologically as possible,'' Eavis said.
Glastonbury Festival 2011 will take place from June 24-26 with rumoured headline acts including Prince, Take That, Pulp and Coldplay.
