Belle & Sebastian have revealed that they asked Professor Brian Cox to appear on the cover of their new album, but he turned them down.
The British particle physicist and TV personality told the group he was too busy to appear on 'Belle & Sebastian Write About Love'.
Revealing details about the offer in an interview with The Guardian, the group then proceeded to have a disagreement over Cox, who was formerly a member of Dare.
"But anyway, can Cox sing?" singer Stuart Murdoch said, to which violinist Sarah Martin replied: “He can play keyboards!”
Chris Geddes, the band's keyboard player, added: "Ohh. Oh OK. OK, I'll take a hit for the team. So what am I supposed to do then? Just f*ck off and do some physics?
“This band's going to break up over Brian Cox."
'Belle & Sebastian Write About Love', which is Belle & Sebastian's eight album, is released on October 11.
