Wayne Rooney named his son after a musician friend of Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones, it's been claimed.
The Manchester United striker's first child – Kai – with wife Coleen was born last October.
And according to The Sun, the couple were inspired to choose the name after Jones introduced Rooney to the singer of the band Diagram Of The Heart, Kye Sones.
The pair met the month before Kai's birth at a Stereophonics show at The Electric Ballroom in Camden.
Sones said he felt “nervous” meeting the footballer, but added: "Two weeks later I hear Wayne has called his son Kai. He spells it differently but there must be a link."
Rooney is known to be a huge fan of Stereophonics and has a tattoo of the band's name on his arm.
