The Courteeners frontman Liam Fray has compared their 2008 appearance at Glastonbury to scoring in the World Cup final.
The band are due to play the festival for the third time – they also played in 2007 – this afternoon (June 25) on The Other Stage.
Speaking to Gigwise before their set, Fray said their second appearance two years ago was still one of the most memorable gigs of their career.
“When we walked onto the John Peel Stage it was like nothing else we'd ever experienced,” Fray said.
“It was like we'd scored in the World Cup final. It's one of the only times I'd ever been nervous before a gig, but the crowd gave us such a buzz.”
Fray advised any band performing for the first time at the festival to “make sure at least one member of the group stays sober”.
Gigwise will be coming live from the festival all weekend, so keep checking www.gigwise.com for the latest news, photos and interviews.
