Sir Paul McCartney has been commissioned to create the score for a ballet.
The former Bealte said he didn't know much about the production, but that he was “enthusiastic” to start writing.
"I'm interested in doing things I haven't done before," he told BBC Newsbeat.
"That offer came up and I love writing music, the two went together and I said, 'Yeah,' so I just accept things before I even know what I'm doing."
It won't be the first time that Sir Paul has dabbled with classic music. In 1991, he wrote the orchestral score, Liverpool Oratorio.
Meanwhile, the former Beatle is due to kick off his UK tour at Glasgow's Hampden Park on Sunday (June 20).
