Reading and Leeds festival organisers are considering launching a third site abroad, it’s been reported.

Promotor Melvin Benn said it was “dream” to expand the event, although ruled out taking it to an exotic location.

“We may well develop a site but probably not in the UK, “ he told the Daily Star.

“It’s more than a dream but I can’t say where it will be. I’d like maybe to set it up for next year.”

When asked if the festival would take place in a warm climate, he replied: “There’s no point in taking Reading and Leeds to an exotic location.

"It needs to be somewhere appropriate and exotic wouldn’t be appropriate.”

As previously reported on Gigwise, this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals will be headlined by Guns N’ Roses, Arcade Fire and Blink-182.

The event takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend (August 27-29).
