Russell Brand has denied he was responsible for the break-up of Oasis.
Earlier this month, singer Liam Gallagher appeared to suggest his brother Noel’s friendship with Brand was behind the split last year.
He also compared Noel and the comedian to Neil and Christine Hamilton.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Brand said he had spoken to Noel about Liam’s comments, and that the only people to blame for the band’s break-up were the band themselves.
“Yeah, that was a bit odd,” Brand said. “I spoke to Noel about that.
“Look it's not like you're in a band for years and then you start hanging out with Russell Brand and it's over – as if the two things are mutually exclusive.
“The only people responsible for the breakup of Oasis are in Oasis.”
Brand added: “I don't want to be the Oasis Yoko Ono without even getting to have sex with John Lennon!”
The comedian’s comments came in the same interview in which he claimed that exposing young musicians to hard drugs would help strengthen the music industry.
