Green Day have spoken about their excitement at the opening of American Idiot: The Musical, but admitted they won't be reading any reviews.
The Broadway production, which is an adaptation of their 2004 album of the same name, has been directed by Michael Mayer.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said he had “no concerns” about the musical, which he described as “a broader version of the album”.
However, guitarist Mike Dirnt said they would be staying clear of critics' reviews.
“You can’t or else they effect how you feel about your own work,” he said. “I learned the hard way.”
American Idiot: The Musical runs at New York's Roda Theatre until November 1.
