Former Stone Roses bass player Gary “Mani” Mounfield has said that he thinks that former frontman Ian Brown and guitarist John Squire should forget their differences and become friends once more.
The 46 year-old, who now plies his trade with Primal Scream, said that he regrets not being able to celebrate the recent 20th anniversary of the release of band's seminal debut album with the four original members.
Mani told BBC 6 Music: "We've released a 20th anniversary edition of our debut which we won't celebrate because unfortunately Ian and John still aren't talking...
"It's getting very boring that one now isn't it? I don't know why they don't kiss and make up".
John Squire earlier this year once again denied reports that the band were set to reform as part of the anniversary celebrations when he created a piece of art that contained the statement: "I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses."
The scepticism surrounding the reformation of the band was echoed by Stone Roses producer John Leckie who compared the situation regarding a Stone Roses reunion to one where "you split up from your boyfriend or your girlfriend and someone says, 'You must go back to him again', you'd take it as being a bit rude."
The re-released debut album, 'The Stone Roses', came out today on three formats.
