Sir Paul McCartney Dedicates Coachella Set To Wife Linda: Photos
Sir Paul McCartney wowed fans at the Coachella festival in Los Angeles over the weekend with a career-spanning two-and-a-half-hour set.
The former Beatle dedicated his headlining performance to his first wife Linda, who died in 1998 following a battle with breast cancer.
Sir Paul's appearance coincided with the eleventh anniversary of Linda's death.
"Linda introduced me to the desert because she used to go to Arizona a lot, so I just fell in love with it," he told the BBC.
"At first I thought, oh god, I can't do a show on that day. But then it was like, well, no, it's the desert, it's music, it's rock 'n' roll... I'm doing it for Linda tonight."
Performing in front of 75,000 fans, Sir Paul played songs by all his former acts, including The Beatles and The Wings.
The singer's set, which featured two encores, also included tracks from his solo career.
But the biggest roar of the night was reserved for set closer 'Hey Jude', which resulted in a huge crowd sing-a-long.
The Killers, Morrissey and The Cure also performed at Coachella.
You can see highlights from Sir Paul's set below. Stay tuned for further coverage from the festival on Gigwise throughout today.
