The Streets Cancel London Gig After Power Cut
The Streets were forced to cancel their concert at London's Brixton Academy last night (January 29th) following a power cut.
Frontman Mike Skinner said he was “gutted” about the cancellation, which happened after fans had already begun queuing outside the venue.
He wrote on his blog: "I was really excited, turned up and no lights in the whole building. They [venue staff] phoned the power company, who weren't very helpful unfortunately.”
The power failure at the venue is believed to have been part of a wider outage across the Brixton area.
Writing this morning on his Twitter account, Skinner said he had “no idea” what would happen following the cancellation.
“Heading to Australia on Thursday and then when I get back I don't have a band,” he wrote.
