More Neil Young A University biologist in America has named a new species of spider after the Canadian singer and songwriter Neil Young.
Jason Bond discovered the spider, part of the trapdoor species, while he was doing research in Jefferson County, Alabama last year.
Although there are strict rules about the naming of new species, Bond said that as long as they are followed “you can give a new species just about any name you please.”
“With regards to Neil Young, I really enjoy his music and have had a great appreciation of him as an activist for peace and justice," Bond added.
The biologist from East Carolina University identified the species, which often conceal themselves in burrows, on the basis of differences in genitalia, reports Reuters.
Neil Young - the musician, not the spider - is scheduled to headline the inaugural Hop Farm Festival in Kent this summer.
