Cur Off Your Hands, hailing from New Zealand, have established a firm foundation of passionate fans since the release of their last couple of singles. The fans argument is that this latest offering, ‘Oh Girl’ is much too poppy compared to previous efforts. The definitive argument is that this single is not too poppy and not too pretentious, making for an essential pre-summer hit. Besides, pop is most assertively in this year. And this won’t possibly be too pop once the Cribs-esque riff arrives in confident fashion, making the song a completely different story. Here, we have a band that has not only shown potential, but also a fair display of variety.
Released 18/02/08 on 679.
