Never one to watch his mouth, The Enemy’s Tom Clarke has hit out at the Arctic Monkeys saying that both their second album and their personas are “dull.”
The Coventry lad was speaking at a time when the Arctic Monkeys’s ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ scooped the best album of the year ahead of Radiohead at the South Bank Awards yesterday, and they also received seven NME Awards nominations.
Despite the plaudits that surround Alex Turner and co., Clarke believes the band are a major letdown. He blasted: “Certain Aspects of their music on the second album, and certain.phpects of their personas in the press, are just dull.”
Clearly on a roll, he continued to BBC6music: “That first video that was out (‘I Bet That You Look Good On The Dance Floor’), y’know, I looked at that and I thought; ‘There’s a bunch of working class lads from a proper town playing a tune like they mean it.’”
“It was quality and I went out and bought the first album and I thought it was top – some really good songs on there. And then I was bitterly disappointed when I got the second – just dull.”
- Tell you what Tom, how about you fuck off and die (hopefully painfully) and we’ll call it even? Wanker!

- They’re both crap!!

- lets hope the enemy don’t get round to making a second album!!

- Fair comment I say... Their second album is over-rated and not worth all the fuss. Noods, are you fucking Alex Turner?

- Nope, I just can’t stand Tom ”no fucking talent so I have to get publicity by slating creditable bands” Clarke. The second AM album is better than the Jam rip-off that Clarke seems to think is original.
