Two trustees who were left in charge of James Brown’s estate have quit following accusations that the singer’s money may have been misappropriated
The announcement comes after David Cannon, another trustee who stepped down in August, was held in contempt accused of mismanaging up to $7 million.
One of the trustees to step down yesterday (November 20th), Buddy Dallas, said that the resignations would benefit Brown’s legend.
"I certainly did not violate the trust of James Brown ever in my life, and to the contrary did everything I could do to promote the name and legacy status," Dallas told AP. "I think it's time to let some other people wear those shoes. I'll be in the background."
Alford Bradley, the other trustee to step down, said that he was also acting in the best interest of the singer.
Trouble with Brown’s estate has continued to escalate since the soul legend died last December.
A number of women and alleged children have come forward following the singer's death claiming to have a right to a portion of the estate.
