Former Beatle John Lennon’s solo material will appear on Apple’s iTunes for the first time thanks to his widow Yoko Ono.
Ono has agreed to the deal with Apple’s music store – one of the last companies to sell Lennon’s material online – which will mean his sixteen solo albums will appear online.
It’s hoped that the agreement will eventually enable Apple to sell songs by The Beatles online for the first time.
Lennon's album, ‘Lennon Legend And Acoustic,’ is one of the records now available online for the first time thanks to the deal.
Speaking about the agreement with Apple, Ono said: "John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners."
The chief executive of Apple, Steve jobs, also voiced his delight at the deal: “John Lennon is one of the greatest artists of our time. We're thrilled to have his solo catalogue available on the iTunes store for the first time."
Former Beatle George Harrison is now the only member of the fab four not to have material available legally online, although, his widow announced a deal was “imminent,” according to the BBC.
