More about: Dr Orange
You might think that writing a catchy upbeat tune is easy. Just get an addictive rhythm and allow a song to form around it, right? Well, yes, but also, no. There is a lot that needs to be taken into account in order for the song to stay catchy and not become annoying such as structure, length and the breakdown of the track. These are all elements that Dr Orange manages to nail on his brand new single, '17'.
Described by Impose Magazine as someone who, “gloriously leans on different generations of British indie,” Dr Orange has come forward with a brand new song which is filled with fuzzy guitar, addictive lyrics, a dance-worthy beat and exciting solos. It’s clear the Liverpudlian has written the song with the continuous guitar riff at the heart of everything but that which forms around it is a real treat.
“'17' is definitely the strongest release I’ve put out to date,” he said, “and it feels like a solid base to start the next chapter of Dr Orange. I wrote the track a couple of years back and felt I’d always know when it was the right time to put it out there. The songs about young people getting drawn into far-right politics and the glamorisation of it, which I guess is just as relevant today.”
Absolutely it is, and it’s a message that Dr Orange manages to make you pay attention to by lacing it within a great song. The track was done in collaboration with producer Jon Withnall, who has previous credits with Coldplay and Rihanna, so is no stranger to putting together a chart topper.
This new single, as the man himself says, marks a new start for Dr Orange with it being his first release since 2021 and his first release on Jacaranda records. With that, we can’t wait to see what else he has in the pipeline.
