Glaswegian quartet The Van T’s are back with their shiny new single, which you can listen to here for the first time, exclusively on Gigwise. Released on Big Indie Records, the single captures raw attitude with refined edges that give the band their strongest sounding output to date.
‘Control’ spits out of the speakers, its rattling bass juxtaposed with the soaring snarls of the band’s dual vocalists - and twins - Hannah and Chloe Van Thompson. Overflowing guitar feedback gives it a 90s alt-rock feel, with the hard-hitting drums and punching chorus opening to a more anthemic side.
Lyrics to the single are necessary, affronting and in your face. They explore the basic need for freedom in all walks of life, in order to relieve yourself situations that detriment your wellbeing. Listen to ‘Control’ below:
Speaking of the lyrical content, the band said: “We had a fun time writing this track. Ultimately, we wanted to capture a sense of having freedom in a situation where external factors may compromise this. These factors could be that you’re in a controlling relationship or perhaps work/stress is getting too much and is affecting your health. The song is essentially about taking back control of your life and confronting these issues one might be facing.”
If you enjoyed the track you can catch The Van T’s live on the following dates:
