Sheffield-based quartet Sophie and the Giants have today (15 March) unveiled new track ‘The Light’. Part piano ballad, part soaring pop anthem, it follows on from the band’s Adolescence EP last year.

Speaking about the track in more detail, vocalist Sophie says, “‘The Light’ was written when I was going through a particularly hard time in my life. It’s about finding the light beyond the darkness and focussing on where you need to be. I wanted to write a song that would let people know that there's always a way to change their circumstance, no matter how dire things are.” Listen to it below:

With a range of influences from Blondie to Jamie T, each track the band have put out so far has been a carefully constructed, innovative pop gem, and ‘The Light’ joins that list.
