It’s a Clash reincarnation

Back with their roughly-hewn guitar noise, TOUTS have proven again why punk is still 100% relevant for the times we live in. The Derry trio have covered a little-known Joe Strummer track called ‘Before We Go Forward’ (recorded by the legendary frontman back in 1984) and it’s pure punk perfection.

All proceeds from the sale of ‘Before We Go Forward’ will go to the Joe Strummer Foundation, which aims to ease and eradicate poverty, especially through the joy of teaching music. What better fit for TOUTS’ Joe Strummer charity push than a song by the man himself?

TOUTS’ classic eighties sound is parallel to The Clash anyway, with vocalist and guitarist Matthew Crossan’s tone eerily similar to that of the late Strummer. “Are you too hip to care?” Crossan sings on their cover, released by Very Clever Records this morning, laying Strummer’s politico-punk sound atop a simple-but-addictive rhythm guitar/drums/bass formula.

Support the cause and discover a Clash reincarnation by listening to ‘Before We Go Forward.’
