The Estevans are gearing up to release surging new cut ‘Gotta Know You’ and you can hear it first today (28 February) on Gigwise.
The Guildford-based four piece have been gathering some pace of late after playing Nambucca for This Feeling’s Big In 2019 showcase in January and heading out on their first UK tour this month. The press release says it’s “a high-energy indie-rock track with a chorus made for sweaty venues,” and we couldn’t agree more. It’s a rushing nostalgic romp with jangly guitars aplenty, drawing on the soundscape of mid-noughties indie. Check out the track below:
Speaking about the track, the band say, “Gotta Know You was one of the very first songs we had when we started out as a band. Guy wrote it when he was 16 and we’ve played it at every gig since. ‘Gotta Know You’ is primarily a song about youthful optimism, naivety and eagerness when it comes to building relationships with new people. Not necessarily just romantic relationships, but any and all relationships that you experience when you are young. The chorus is fairly vague, so can be interpreted in different ways. For us it’s the feeling of apprehension when letting new people into your life, but the realisation that as long as someone makes you happy and vice versa, then things will turn out fine.”
