Monday morning can go and do one thanks to Róisín Murphy sharing her super-slinky new release, the disco kitten that is ‘Jacuzzi Rollercoaster’ – and you can listen to it here.
What with a European tour and headline closing set at Somerset House, Róisín Murphy has been pretty busy of late and it doesn’t look as if she’s going to be slowing down any time soon with the release of ‘Jacuzzi Rollercoaster’. The release is the third in a series of four 12” singles produced by Baltimore’s maverick producer/musician Murray Fulton.
We’ve got to say, this is the best start to the week we’ve had in some time. Just check out that fabulously warped and wobbly bassline that kicks things off – you feel your hips going already, right? And then those disco 4/4 beats come and your feet join in the action. Driving it all are Róisín Murphy’s sassy vocals – here augmented by guest singer Ali Love - to create an absolutely irresistible package. Have a listen…
Speaking of the track’s creation, Murphy said: ‘’I love Ali Love's voice, he's got the boogie in him, he's an exceptional hook writer also. I've been hoping to work with him for a long time and this Maurice Fulton music just seemed the perfect match.”
She continued: “The bassline in this track is highly evocative and Ali already had the title when he came to the studio, he had just been reading about a 'Jacuzzi Rollercoaster' being built in Japan and it was a notion that fit the funk of the track perfectly. We wrote the song and put the vocals down in a few hours. We’re a match made in heaven!’’
‘Jacuzzi Rollercoaster’ is released on 12” vinyl on 21 September.
Róisín Murphy also has a couple of live dates coming up. She plays:
17 – Paradiso, Amsterdam, NL
28 – Metropolis Festival, Dublin, IE
