Ringo Starr has found an absolute treasure trove of Beatles memorabilia.Speaking to
Rolling Stone he said: "If I got postcards from the boys, I always just threw them in a drawer. As the years go, you move house and you lose track. Four moves later, I found a trunk of stuff that had this box -- no idea what it was. I found my outfit from
Magical Mystery Tour that I thought was gone, too."
The postcards were written from 1960’s up to as recently as the 1990’s and are all collected in a new book by
Ringo, ‘Postcards From The Boys’, with the proceeds going to the Lotus Foundation which raises money for women's and children's causes.
"This book shows that a battle did go on, but that's not all that was happening. There was still a lot of love and friendship among us all."
One particular postcard from
John Lennon written at the time of the bands break up reads: "Who'd have thought it would come to this?"
Ringo said "It was as painful to
John as it was to me that it all came to that. It was a great job -- a lot of love and a lot of friendship -- and then suddenly it's gone."
Ringo is currently writing a new album. He will also appear at the
American Music Awards on November 14. He will be introducing rare performance clips of
The Beatles.
