Because it's "awful"...

Kaiser Chiefs say they are not releasing their album of new material this year.

A few months back, band bassist Simon Rix said that the Leeds lads were ready to release material they recorded at the same time as their new album ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob.’

But now, frontman Ricky Wilson says that the album – inspired by Will Ferrell’s character in Anchorman – will not see the light of day as it’s awful.

He said: "One night we were left in the studio with just our sound engineer. We had to record an album for 45 minutes off the top of our heads. We just made it up as we went along.

"We called it ‘Bad’ because it's so awful. We took our inspiration from Will Ferrell's character in Anchorman who just says what he sees.”

He continued: "I haven't listened to it since we recorded it. I'd like to but I know I'd cringe because it's really unfunny.

"It was a laugh to start with and then Simon went and said we wanted to release it. We did in a way, but as a joke."

Sounds a bit like ‘Yours Truly, Angry Mob’ Ricky.
