Russian shoegazers Pinkshinyultrablast have announced details of their third album, Miserable Miracles, as well as a UK tour while sharing a new track, ‘In The Hanging Garden’, which can soon be yours when it comes out as limited edition 10” vinyl.
So, first things first: ‘In The Hanging Garden’ marks a significant change in sound for Pinkshinyultrablast. Eschewing the ethereal guitar sounds of their first two albums, Everything Else Matters and Grandfeathered, the band is now sailing in to more electronic waters that gives some indication of what to expect from Miserable Miracles when it’s released on 4 May via Club AC30.
With their influences of Lush and Cocteau Twins still firmly in place, it’s most definitely and recognisably them but with a greater emphasis on 80s sounding synths that twinkle and shimmer. The shift in sound may well have been influenced by vocalist Lyubov’s recent relocation to LA, as well as drawing inspiration from Japanese artists such as Chiemi Manabe and Yellow Magic Orchestra.
