EMI have quelled rumours that tracks by The Beatles will soon be available for download after an MP3 site announced that they would.

The band are famously one of the world’s last major acts to prevent their tracks from appearing on official download sites.

However, Wippit announced on its site on Friday that they would soon have the fab four’s songs available to buy.

EMI have released a statement denying the news and have requested that Wippit remove the statement front their site.

The label are believed to be on the verge of releasing the Beatles entire back catalogue digitally and the recent settlement with Apple could help pave the way for this via iTunes.
