"You know baby that your ex can't be your best friend/ 'cause when he calls it's like a booty call/ I'm comin' back to you/ Ridin' back to you baby." So goes 'Ridin', a circular tale of break-up to make-up sex. Both sides of this wine bar DJ fodder are classy, but lack the inventiveness of, say Amp Fiddler's Moodymann collaberations. Carl Craig is a master of the remix, but his edit of 'Ridin' is workmanlike. It's akin to Picasso doing painting and decorating. The Jazzanova remix of 'Faith' is more artfully deconstructed. It builds slowly, then almost stops, teasing us before the 'Sweet Dreams'-style synth and a hands in the air breakdown for the more discerning dancefloors.
