Lily Allen - 'Littlest Things' (Regal) Released 11/12/06

‘Littlest Things’ is the third single to be released from Lily Allen’s outstanding debut album ‘Alright Still’. The track highlights a lovelorn sensibility without sacrificing Lily’s trademark, sharp, sassy, and Mike Skinner-esq lyricism, which ensures the track loses none of the spunky urban pop edge which makes Allen one of the most exciting artists of the last year. A gypsy inspired and heart-warming composition will no doubt add to those warm and fuzzy feelings which automatically land in our belly’s at this festive time of year, but the delicately played guitar’s add a mysticism which is altogether more saddening. Lily describes the track as the only love song she’s ever written and is an original and beautifully crafted example of the littlest things that make a relationship, sweeping aside grand gestures to make the song a powerfully understated and engaging soundtrack to innumerable break-ups.
