Since their formation in 2004 Cold War Kids have quickly gained a reputation thanks to their unique sound and live performance. The group consists of Matt Aveiro, Jonnie Russell, Matt Maust and Nathan Willett – the bands Pianist and Lead Singer.
After recording a number of demos in LA the band signed to Monarchy Records in the USA and released their debut EP entitled ‘Mulberry Street’ in the spring of 2005. Its combination of expressive rhythms and contemporary blues gained the band wide-spread attention across the United States.
With a number of low-key performances in the US under their belt, and following on from the critical success of ‘Mulberry Street,’ the band signed in the summer of 2006 to V2 Recordings to launch their sound on the UK. Their first V2 release was the well received, ‘We Used To Vacation.’
Accredited to their strong studio success the bands live reputation escalated throughout 2006 with a number of successful live performances where they served up their distinct slice of Nina Simone Blues with a White Stripes drum beat, during support slots for amongst others, Editors and Tapes ‘n Tapes.
The January release of their most prolific EP to date, ‘Hang Me Up To Dry,’ coincides with their first major tour of the UK, and will give fans a glimpse of what to expect from their debut album, ‘Robbers And Cowards,’ due for release in February 2007.
