Fatboy Slim

Fatboy Slim aka Norman Cook, began as a bass player for the 1980’s band the Housemartins, reaching number one in the charts with ‘Caravan of Love’ when the Housemartins split up Fatboy formed Beats International who reached number one with ‘Dub be good to me’ Following his chart successes with these acts Norman went on to have further hits under six different names.

Originally Fatboy Slim was a side project to help launch the UK label Skint, however once Fatboy Slim had arrived in 1996, his other personas had little chance to resume work, although in 1998 a remix of Cornershop by Brimful of Asha spent several weeks at the top of the UK singles charts.  In the same year Slim released his second album ‘You’ve come a long way baby’ which went platinum in the US.  The video for the international hit ‘Praise you’ won three MTV video music awards and was nominated for three Grammies.

Since then Cook has never looked back, he’s had more success on both sides of the Atlantic and has collaborated with artists such as Macy Gray.  In 2001 The video for his tune "Weapon of Choice," with Christopher Walken dancing in a surreal hotel lobby, was nominated for nine 2001 MTV Video Music awards.
