Noisy and frenetic urchins Dead Pretties have shared the video for their new single, ‘Confidence’, and you can watch it here. Arriving hot on the heels of their debut single, ‘Social Experiment’, the band have also announced details of their debut 12-date UK autumn headline tour that calls in at London, Southampton and Glasgow among others.
Speaking of ‘Confidence’, singer-guitarist Jacob Slater said: “The public is being de-intellectualised by certain outlets of the western media, who choose the easy path of reporting on bum implants and racists when they know they have the power to shift the focus of the public eye.
“The worrying thing is, because the general public on such a regular basis consumes it, people have become addicted to wanting to know more about the Kardashians of the world. That makes these people powerful role models. I’m opposed to the idea that rattling like a near empty tin should be an example of how to live ones life. People are stupid enough as it is, don't encourage them.”
Quite so and the video is an explosion of hallucinatory imagery, wild-eyed performances, sweat, rage and plenty of time spent in bathrooms staring into mirrors as if one-too-many drops of Albert Hofmann’s psychedelic creation have been consumed. Oh, and fish. Plenty of fish, which is no bad thing in our book. And neither are the snarling guitars, properly gnarly bass, combustible drumming and genuinely unhinged vocals.
And now that your interest has been tweaked and ramped up, make a note of the following dates and plan for an evening of total and utter chaos. It might even be worth taking the following day off.
