Polish death metal band Decapitated have been arrested in Santa Ana, California, on suspicion of kidnapping a woman after their gig at Spokane, Washington. The incident is alleged to have occurred on August 31.
The Spokane Review reports that all four members of the band - Michal Lysejko, Waclaw J. Kieltyka, Rafal Piotrowski and Hubert Wiecek – were arrested early on Saturday (September 9).
The four members of Decapitated are now in the Los Angeles County Jail on charges of first-degree kidnapping and the case is under investigation by the department’s Special Victims Unit. They are awaiting extradition to Spokane. Spokane Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Teresa Fuller said that additional charges may be forthcoming.
Police say that the woman went to the band’s gig at Spokane venue The Pin, where they played with Thy Art Is Murder, Ghost Bath and Fallujah as part of the Double Homicide tour.
Spokane police said: "A patrol officer responded and assisted the victim. The report was then sent to the Special Victim’s Unit for follow up.
”Based on the information they developed during the subsequent investigation, and with assistance from the LA County SO, the four males were taken into custody for 1st Degree Kidnapping in Santa Ana this morning."
Decapitated have appointed defence attorney Steve Graham who said: “We have witnesses that can testify to the fact that the accuser came to visit the band of her own free will and left on good terms.”
Graham added that he’s concerned that the band will “languish” in jail for weeks before being moved to Spokane. He stressed that the band are willing to return to Spokane, co-operate with the authorities and not fight extradition.
