Prepare to see the real Slipknot, as the metal menace heroes are unmasked in a new documentary - watch the trailer below.
The band, who are set to arrive in UK for an arena tour next week, are the subject of BBC Two's latest episode of Artsnight - which touches on why certain artists wear masks. It meets the band on tour in Europe, shows them putting on their masks backstage and talks to them about why they choose a disguise and uniform to perform in.
"I had gotten a version of this mask when I was 14, and I was just drawn to it," says Clown. "It was awesome. I never knew why it was in my world but it was always around me. Then, one day, it just so happened it was that moment of clarity when I decided what I wanted to project. I’m, like, being taught something, more and more and more, and I haven’t even figured it out. This thing has no limits.”
Corey Taylor adds: “The mask for me has always been that physical representation of the person inside me who just never had a voice. It allows me to be me. That’s what it’s all about.”
Artsnight airs on BBC Two tonight (Friday 5 February).
