Gwenno has unveiled the video for her new single, 'Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki'. Watch it first on Gigwise below.

If you've read anything about Gwenno's beautiful debut solo album, you'll have already heard the obligatory spiel detailing its 'kooky' credentials: it's a political concept album inspired by an obscure '70s Welsh language sci-fi novel. But somehow, that description both overeggs it, and undersells it.

Try and pare Y Dydd Olaf down to its core, and you'll find you've missed the multitude of layers encompassing its synthy, dream-pop essence - but 'Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki' is perhaps somewhere near the album's emotional centre.

The video offers a sort of physical manifestation of these layers, as Gwenno appears through various camera filters and guises, draped in red silk, a paisley wrap, even cling film, each incarnation superimposed over the next, or doubled up as if through a drunken, psychedelic haze.

"I made this video with photographer and film maker Jacek Davis," Gwenno says. "Jacek's imagery evokes pure glamour in the most DIY sense, and since Fratolish Hiang Perpeshki is about dancing in a dystopian future where robot overlords have taken over the world and we're all rapidly being turned into clones, we thought we'd make a video of me dancing - as a final wave goodbye to freedom."

Gwenno is playing a handful of UK dates throughout February and March. See full dates below, and get tickets and more information here.
