Punk 1976-78 - British Library, all week
Alongside the British Library’s Shakespeare exhibition this month is the story of punk from 1976 - 78, as well as a pop up shop selling vinyl, books and all the punk march you could possibly wish for. It’s well worth checking out.
Ezra Furman: The Velvet Underground, Punk Pioneers - British Library, Thursday 23 June
One of the best musicians around at the moment reflecting on one of the most iconic musicians of all time - Lou Reed - alongside an acoustic performance? What more could you ask for? Discussing his forthcoming book on Lou Reed’s Transformer album, Furman will also perform a handful of Velvet Underground covers as well as some of his own songs.
Bristol Summer Series - Bristol, 22 - 24 June
With an eclectic line-up, including the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets, James Bay and Sigur Ros, there’s pretty much something for everyone if you’re looking for a festival with a little less mud.
Bowie Experience - Norwich Theatre Royal, Wednesday 22 June
Given that the world lost Bowie earlier this year, there’s never been a more poignant time to watch “the world’s favourite and most authentic tribute to the Thin White Duke.”
Autism Rocks Presents A Tribute To Prince - Hammersmith Apollo, Friday 24 June
Autism Rocks, the UK-based charity that brought Prince to London in 2014 and 2015 (including his last live performance in the UK) is honouring his musical genius by hosting a tribute show starring world-class acts CeeLo Green, Mark Ronson and Morris Day & The Time. Get tickets here.
