“Blazing song writing”, say Rocksound. “Kicking up a fiery blues storm”, say XFM. A lot of thundering praise is being said about 'Los' by a lot of people, so why not add some more compliments to a group who are destined to caress your ears in the very near future? They’re a three-piece grungey, bluesy, rock your face off, get your grove on, outfit from the small town of Redhill, Surrey. Each member parades as much individual talent as the next, which when combined, adds up to a massively loud, encapsulating live performance. They’re made up of drums, guitar and a moog synth that adds a sumptuous, back-end bass compliment, played by singer, Helen. A combination like no other I’ve (nor you’ve) come across. Consequently, the music produced has a refreshing air breezing through it in that it’s not quite like anything being done at the moment. Forget your new indie-pop scenesters with all too much to prove, who deliver the same old goof no matter the band. Ignore the crrrrazy new-wave go getters, coasting on cool and stupid hair-cuts; these guys are way above all that. They first and foremost take pride in their produce and actually think about the music they make; the performance just comes naturally. Isn’t that what music’s meant to be about? With all their recordings to date being self-produced in a homemade studio, the feel of the tunes and the way they’re written and delivered exhibits the innovative self-production that most rising stars often quickly lose. Let’s hope Los don’t. So far, so good.

  • Had the privilege of seeing these guys at 93 feet east recently and for want of a better phrase was blown away by their performance. They played with such an intensity and urgency which I've found to be severely lacking throughout the current unsigned circuit and music in general to be frank. At the risk of sounding like a ponce, it felt a musical "happening" and I for one look forward to experiencing that again. All the best for 2010.
