In an age where music scenes and the bands who operate inside them come and go with significant unpredictability, some bands have that something which means they just don’t go away. Groove Armada have that something.
Since they first met in 1995 Andy Cato and Tom Findlay – better known as Groove Armada – have created a relentless and constantly evolving back catalogue. From 1997’s blissed out, Ibiza Chillout Album number 512 dominator, ‘At The River,’ to 2001’s reggae tipped, ‘Superstylin’, Groove Armada have always kept their audience guessing as to what’s going to come next. And what an audience it is as well. Not only have the Cambridge duo had ten top-40 hits but they’ve also sold over three million albums worldwide. It’s fitting then, not to mention overdue, that they’ve returned in 2007 to log in with their latest offering, ‘Soundboy Rock.’
After a five year hiatus - which has seen Cato relocate to Spain while Findlay has remained in North London and the band change labels to Columbia - Grammy nominated Groove Armada have returned with another album packed full of surprises and special guests - including Soul Diva, Angie Stone on, ‘Feel The Same As You,’ and former Sugababe, Mutya Buena on, ‘Song 4 Mutya.’ As a testament to their status, Afro-beat legend Tony Allen, and, The Rakes Alan Donohue even crop up over the course of the albums fifteen tracks.
Although, due to the band’s relocation, much of the album was recorded with Cato and Findlay apart from each other, that hasn’t dented Groove Armada’s flow. ‘Soundboy Rock’ still unravels capriciously like you’d expect from a band in constant flux.
They may not have been around for a while, but as Groove Armada prepare to take their live show back on the road it’s likely that – just like in formative years – somewhere or other they’ll be the soundtrack to your summer.

Featuring vocalist Stush (famous for her collaboration with house & garage DJ Sticky on the ‘Doller Sign’ tune) the track is the first to be lifted from the duo’s new album ‘Soundboy Rock’. Check out the promo video for the song below…
