Two of the most politically-angry, socially-aware bands of the last century release retrospectives this month.
The Clash’s ‘Singles’ is a lavish 19 CD boxset that includes every single the influential, life-changing punk band ever released. Each single is issued in replica sleeves with every B-side, including such rare content as non-UK b-sides and interview tracks. The set also includes a 44 page booklet with unseen photos and sleevenotes from the likes of Bobby Gillespie and Damon Albarn.
‘Everything Must Go’ by the Manic Street Preachers was the first LP released following the still unresolved dissapearance of their iconic visionary Richey Edwards. Shrouded in an elegiac, poignant shadow, the record remains the Manic’s strongest, most defiant work, including such classic singles as ‘Design For Life’ and ‘Australia’. It’s lavish 10th Anniversary re-release includes an extra disc of demos, live tracks, un-released takes as well as a DVD including live footage and videos.
