The Automatic are four teenagers whose songs are route maps to escaping the humdrum life of the small Welsh village of Cowbridge. Growing up on the edges of Cardiff they started playing together in primary school using sofas and 5 string guitars. By the time they were 16 and staring at a future that said “get a job or go to college”, they knew making music was the antidote.

Skip forward to 2006 and The Automatic are on the tip of many a music fan’s tongue having seized our imagination with their brand of effervescent emo-synth-punk. Break out sets at last year’s In The City were followed up by their debut single ‘Recover’ and a series of highly praised tours. Now they release the cock sure follow up ‘Raoul’ which looks set to cement their place as sure fire indie starlets.
