You could have been anything in your new vid. What made you choose to be a downbeat drummer?
I would love to take credit for it but the idea came from the director Adam Bartley, I didn't really have an idea for how the song should come across myself, my fondness of the track anyway kinda left no room for the visuals so we asked around for some ideas from new directors, most of the stuff we got back was very boy/girl stuff or about a struggle of some sort which i didn't really see in the song, then I put in serious limitations like no lip-synch and no boys and girls in relationships shit and Adams treatment popped up. It was so peculiar and fantastical that I jumped on it, I like how it doesn't really let you know anything more about the track, if anything confused the viewer even more which i've always admired in videos, there's no point in using them as "this is what the songs about by the way" if you had chosen to be candid in the song in the first place.

There’s a fire breathing, horn blowing…thing wandering alongside you. The animation is pretty fancy. Is that necessary to make a video noticeable these days?
The puppets were made especially for the video under Adam's direction, he wanted to mix Hieronymus Bosch (15th century painter who depicted hell as a incomprehensible world of strange looking demons that had an almost comic quality about them) and Jim Henson. I had 3 guys on either side of the treadmill i'm on lying in awkward positions on mattresses operating them, so it was very organic performance, the blue fire though i do admit was put on afterwards. I think you should always intend to make a video noticeable and the best ones have been the ones with that intention from the earliest days of videos, I do think there have become safe options which you see used alot at the moment.

Outline your new single in less than 10 words
Organ 'n bass, crescendo junk folk

The country setting gets us thinking about the festival season. You’ve got loads on this summer, where are you looking forward to most?
I'm looking forward to the spaces in between everything that I've got on when I will be recording some new songs, I love spreading the word and we will be saying hello to pretty much the rest of the world this year, but recordings where its at for me.

Obviously Glasto has sold out. Tell the unfortunate ones what they’ll be missing from your performance on the Other Stage.
Not much apart from not being able to make us out I guess, you miss the Glastonbury Experience (tm) by not being at Glastonbury, I will miss the fact its not at night and the crowd will be so far away, there are plenty of opportunities coming up to see a show as opposed to an extended picnic.

    Who’s C-C may we ask?
The songs is about a particularly bad case of heartburn after drinking too much Coca-Cola.
