About
Motion Picture Soundtrack are an unsigned alternative rock band from Canterbury, Kent. Having previously worked with Hugh Jones (Echo and the Bunnymen, I am Kloot) and Dan Austin (Doves, Massive Attack, Oceansize), Motion Picture Soundtrack spent much of 07/08 making their debut album, 'The Shapes We Fear Are Of Our Own', in Copenhagen, London & the U.S, with Paul Schroeder (The Stone Roses, The Verve), Cenzo Townshend (Editors, Bloc Party, Klaxons) & Bob Ludwig (RATM, Radiohead, Tool...). Their live experience covers over 150 dates nationwide, as well as appearances at the Lounge on the Farm and Kent Music festivals (Z008 - supporting Pendulum, The Hives, Funeral For A Friend, The Cribs...). 2008/2009 sees the digital release of 'Departure', the bands debut single, and their first album 'The Shapes We Fear Are Of Our Own'.
Influences
"Trust the cutting guitars in the terrific single 'Departure',
take them as a first guidepost and you will enter the dark,
black world,
which the album-title 'The Shapes We Fear Are Of Our Own' already hints..."
- Andreas (SoundMag.De) - 7/10 - ALBUM OF THE WEEK
"...an intense sounding soundscape of an album - mournful in places,
uplifting in others,
but utterly glorious throughout...Listen to it. Wallow in it. Bathe in it. This is gorgeous stuff..."
- Album review for BBC Introducing - Stephen Morris
"...a majestically epic sound to rival even the aforementioned Icelandic outfit (Sigur Ros)... is surely one of the darkest,
most haunting albums you are likely to hear all year..."
- TMM
…This will be their landmark album,
as it’s so brilliantly sculptured,
so alive with sound and emotion,
and touches on so many levels…this is Motion Picture Soundtrack,
dramatic,
glorious and epic…
